Bill,
The leaves of spring are help together
with a bolt going through the leaves.
This bolt is called a "Center Bolt". The
spring seat on the axle has a hole in which the head of the centerbolt
goes into.
As you know, the mono leaf spring is a
one leaf spring so it does not have the centerbolt. Nor does the spring
seat have the hole.
So what one has to do is replace the top
axle pad with the steel spacer plate.
The top of the spring is the side with
the longest leaf. That would be the side that faces up when installed.
The top rubber/urethane axle pad is not
used when converting from mono to multi leaf springs.
